February 17, 2025

We are thrilled to announce that Re:Cognition Health has been shortlisted for three categories at the prestigious HealthInvestor Awards 2025: Private Hospital Group of the Year, Primary Care Provider of the Year and Diagnostics Provider of the Year. This recognition reflects Re:Cognition Health’s commitment to innovation, patient-centred care and research and innovation in the field of neurodegenerative diseases.

A Transformative Year for Alzheimer’s Research

2024 marked a watershed moment for Alzheimer’s care, with the availability of two groundbreaking treatments, Leqembi™ (lecanemab) and Kisunla™ (donanemab). These disease-modifying therapies, which target amyloid plaques in the brain, represent a paradigm shift in Alzheimer’s management. Unlike traditional treatments focused solely on alleviating symptoms, these drugs address the underlying pathology of the disease, offering new hope to people living with Alzheimer’s and their families. It also represents a significant leap forward for the future of Alzheimer’s treatment.

Re:Cognition Health played a pivotal role in the development of these therapies, conducting clinical trials that contributed to their approval. Today, Re:Cognition Health is at the forefront of administering these treatments in the UK and Europe, providing a comprehensive approach to Alzheimer’s care that combines cutting-edge diagnostics with innovative therapies. The emotional and social impact of these treatments has huge implications, as they allow patients to retain cognitive function for longer, maintain independence and preserve meaningful connections with loved ones.

A State-of-the-Art Facility in Harley Street

In 2024, we also consolidated  Re:Cognition Health’s London operations into a single, state-of-the-art clinic on New Cavendish Street in the Harley Street Health District. This new 8,000 sq ft facility enhances the patient experience by offering seamless access to all services under one roof, including clinical trials, private practice services and medico-legal assessments.

Designed with patient comfort in mind, the clinic features cutting-edge treatment rooms, a serene low-sensory suite and purpose-built zones for children and adults. Eco-friendly lighting and carefully curated interiors promote healing and wellbeing, while the spacious layout accommodates growing demand. As part of the Harley Street Health District, Re:Cognition Health is well-positioned to collaborate with other leading healthcare providers, driving innovation and preventative care.

Educational Leadership and Public Awareness

Re:Cognition Health’s influence extends beyond clinical care. In 2024, the organisation contributed to over 500 media articles and played a key role in the BBC Panorama documentary Alzheimer’s: A Turning Point. Featuring insights from Founder and CEO Dr Emer MacSweeney and Re:Cognition Health patients, the programme highlighted the transformative potential of treatments like Leqembi™ and Kisunla™.

Dr MacSweeney’s TEDx talk, CTE: The Silent Killer in Contact Sports, has amassed over three million views, furthering public understanding of  Chronic traumatic encephalopathy and cognitive health. Our team also launched the Re:Cognition Health Brain and Mind Foundation, a global charity aimed at enhancing lives affected by neurological conditions through funding, research and advocacy.
