What is Parkinson’s Disease?

Parkinson’s disease is a degenerative condition of the nervous system which affects approximately 145,000 adults in the UK. The disease is progressive and incurable with symptoms including involuntary tremors and shaking, muscular rigidity, difficulties with balance and slow, imprecise movement. Additional symptoms associated with Parkinson’s may also include sensations of feeling dizzy, lightheaded or faint.

Parkinson’s is caused by a loss of nerve cells in part of the brain, but it is not known what causes the nerve cells to die. Extensive research is currently underway in the field of Parkinson’s, not only to find the causes but also searching for new treatments for the symptoms and ultimately to find a cure. With every study undertaken, we understand more about the disease; research is always invaluable and results are always promising.

New Clinical Studies for Parkinson’s

At Re:Cognition Health, we are dedicated to helping to pave the way to find new medications to help treat, cure and prevent the onset of diseases affecting the mind and brain. We are delighted to be partaking in new international clinical trials for Parkinson’s to help improve the lives of those living with Parkinson’s today.

These final phase studies will be testing new generation medications to help individuals with Parkinson’s, including those experiencing neurogenic orthostatic hypotension (nOH); that is a significant drop in blood pressure on standing up, which causing dizziness, lightheadedness and a feeling of being about to black out.
