
Dr Kitty Farooq
Consultant Psychiatrist
Kitty Farooq is a Consultant Psychiatrist with extensive experience in adult mental health, specialising in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessments. She is also a Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician, integrating lifestyle-based approaches into psychiatric care to promote overall well-being.
Kitty has worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist for the NHS for 12 years, first at Oxleas Foundation Trust in London then at Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust in Bristol, providing specialist mental health care. More recently, she has taken on a freelance consultant role at Re:Cognition Health, where she focuses on specialist adult ADHD assessments.
Her medical education began at the University of Nottingham, where she earned a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMedSci) in 2000 and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) in 2002. She furthered her expertise obtaining her MRCPsych qualification in 2007 at The Institute of Psychiatry and The South London & Maudsley NHS Trust, and a Graduate Certificate in Family Therapy from King’s College London in 2009. She completed Fellowship in Medical Education at The Tavistock & Portman NHS Trust, leading an international project for the Royal College of Psychiatrist on recruitment into the specialty, publishing a series of research papers for the World Psychiatric Association. Recognising the vital role of lifestyle in mental health, she also obtained a Diploma in Lifestyle Medicine from the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine in 2023.
Kitty’s holistic approach combines traditional psychiatric treatment with lifestyle interventions, ensuring her patients receive comprehensive and personalised care that supports both mental and physical health.
