Dr Anthony Fafiolu

Areas of Expertise (conditions): Assessment of all types of General Psychiatric and Intellectual Disability (Neurodevelopmental) conditions across the life span including anxiety, depression, psychosis, bipolar affective disorder, obsessive compulsive disorders, traumas, stress related disorders, adjustment disorder, emotional and behavioural issues, personality disorders, substance misuse, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

 
Career History:

Dr Fafiolu started working as a visiting consultant psychiatrist for private working age adults aged 18 – 65yrs at Priory Bristol Hospital since January 2022 to date with both outpatient and inpatient responsibilities.  He previously worked as a locum inpatient general adult psychiatrist on an acute male ward at Priory Bristol from November 2020 to July 2022. Dr Fafiolu also worked as a locum inpatient child and adolescent psychiatrist on a Priory Bristol Hospital General Adolescent Unit (GAU) ward from May 2020 to September 2020.  

He has over 25yrs experience in Psychiatry which includes the assessment and management of psychiatric presentations in young people and adults.

Dr Fafiolu obtained his primary medical qualification of MB BS from the University of Lagos, Nigeria in 1988. He started postgraduate training in Internal Medicine in the United Kingdom in 1995 and commenced the Guys’ and St. Thomas’ psychiatric training rotation in February 1997. These led to membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 1998 and membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2000 respectively. 

Dr Fafiolu completed his higher specialist (specialist registrar) training in Intellectual Disability Psychiatry in Bristol from 2000 to 2003. 

From November 2003, Dr Fafiolu has worked at consultant level with varied experience in the psychiatric disciplines of Intellectual Disability Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and General Adult Psychiatry. 

Dr Fafiolu is fully registered and on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council with Registration number 4459017.
