New Autism Clinic Launched at Re:Cognition Health
Re:Cognition Health is delighted to launch the new Autism Clinic, expanding our highly successful Children & Young People Service and fulfilling demand for children’s autism assessments. Paediatrician Dr Christina Georgoula and psychologists Ifi Mourelatoun, join the multi-disciplinary team and will now be offering autism assessments for children as young as 18 months old, complementing the existing ADHD clinics.
The Autism Assessment at Re:Cognition Health comprises a collaborative approach between a team of experts including a Paediatrician, Child Psychiatrist, Speech and Language Therapist and Psychologist who use a series of gold standard diagnostic tools tailored around the child’s specific constellation of symptoms.
The Autism Assessment:
The first part of the assessment is with the child’s parents or carer and will involve an Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised (ADI-R) which can be conducted virtually. The second part of the assessment is conducted with the child and will involve the Autism Diagnostic Observational Schedule (ADOS). This play-based assessment takes around 45 minutes and assesses the child’s communication and social behaviour through age-appropriate games, activities and conversation. Following both assessments, a detailed report will be issued and a follow-up appointment scheduled to discuss the diagnosis and recommendations.
