When should I seek help from a Child Psychiatrist?
Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist Dr Maite Ferrin talks about children’s psychiatry, answering some of the most commonly asked questions by parents enquiring about the children’s services offered at Re:Cognition Health.
Dr Ferrin discusses what a typical appointment with a child involves, what can be expected, the types of treatments available to help manage various conditions and the level of involvement required from parents, family members and the school. She also discusses some of the most common reasons for taking children to see a psychiatrist and also addresses the question “how do you know when it’s time to take a child to see a psychiatrist”.
Another very common question addressed in the interview is the importance of a child’s diet and how this can help with a child’s concentration, mood and the developmental role.
Dr Ferrin also offers advice on helping to prepare children for returning to school when lockdown is eased, preparing for the transition from home school to school again.
